Background

Founded in 1996, The Skyscraper Museum is a private, not-for-profit, educational corporation devoted to the study of high-rise building, past, present, and future. Located in New York City, the world’s first and foremost vertical metropolis, the museum celebrates the city’s rich architectural heritage and examines the historical forces and individuals that have shaped its successive skylines. Through exhibitions, programs, and publications, the museum explores tall buildings as objects of design, products of technology, sites of construction, investments in real estate, and places of work and residence.

Process

Your process for creating the typeface involved several stages of sketching and refinement. First, you began by making lots of pencil sketches on paper to explore different forms and ideas for the typeface. Next, you took those sketches and created basic forms of the typeface in illustration software. This allowed you to refine the forms and experiment with different variations. You then repeated the process of sketching and illustrating until you had a strong base for the typeface design. Finally, you created all the letters of the alphabet in the finalized design, ensuring that each letter was consistent with the overall style of the typeface. This iterative process of sketching, refining, and testing allowed you to arrive at a final design that is well-balanced, cohesive, and effective for its intended use.

In terms of style, the typeface likely incorporates elements of fluidity, movement, and modernity, reflective of Hadid's design philosophy. It may feature sweeping curves, bold lines, and abstract shapes that evoke the dynamic forms of Hadid's buildings. As a custom typeface for the Skyscraper Museum, the design may be used for various materials such as museum signage, exhibition graphics, marketing materials, and more. It helps to establish a unique visual identity for the museum and ties in with the theme of skyscraper architecture. Overall, your typeface design serves as a creative expression of the museum's focus and aims to enhance the visitor experience.
